The following update to the notes from our 11/6 meeting was provided by Mike Herron of KC Parks & Rec:

We would suggest that the following be added to the notes: There was considerable discussion on the trail. It was agreed that if funding for the entire trail was not possible, that the trail could be addressed in phases. The first priority trail segment is that portion along NE 85th. Terr. from N. Virginia to N. Boone. Second priority is along NE 85th. Terr. east to the park boundary. Third priority is along the N. Virginia utilizing the side most feasible and cost effective for a connection to the neighborhood located to the south. This last trail section could be of a narrower 4' or 5' width to match existing sidewalks in the area.

It looks like we can schedule the proposed plans for Highland Park improvements to our Development Review Committee on Thursday, December 6. Our Committee starts and 10 am and typically lasts about 1 1/2 hours. We can confirm later where Highland View Park will be on the Committee docket. Please advise if this date works for you and others from the neighborhood that are welcome to attend.

I have a copy of the plans for Hidden Valley Park in a CD that contain a trail guidebook we could use for some basic trail building guidelines in Highland View Park. Perhaps, I can arrange to drop that off to you sometime in the next few days.

Lastly, we will discuss further your efforts to follow-up with the City Council and PIAC representatives on funding. One of the pieces of information we can try to estimate is the funds needed for completion of the trail. Perhaps, the amount is less than what has already been estimated on the PIAC a project application you submitted. Scott Overbay and Richard Allen can help us with a revised estimate assuming that the playground will constructed within the $90,000 budget.
