I wanted to provide a quick update to let everyone know that we've received word that PIAC request #107318 has been approved in the amount of $80,000! This particular request was aimed at securing additional funds for the design and construction of a new playground at Highland View Park. I should point out that these funds are in addition to the $146,000 that was previously committed to the HVP effort via "park dedication in-lieu-of funds". In total, we have just over $226,000 available for the various aspects of this project. We will tap the funds from the PIAC request first, as it is to be dedicated to the playground portion of the project. Once these funds have been exhausted, we will then tap the remaining $146,000. Any money that remains will be used to fund the design and construction of paved (hard surface) walking trails along the south side of 85th Terrace. PIAC request #107450 was not recommended for funding during the 2009 - 2010 fiscal year. This request was directed at obtaining funding for the design and construction of hard surface walking trails along the south side of 85th Terrace and the west side of Virginia, south of 85th Terrace. Depending on our needs, we could conceivably resubmit the request for the 2010 - 2011 fiscal year. We are still expecting the project to be put out for bid sometime in April. From that point, the project will go through a series of administrative steps before being placed on the schedule for completion. Though I can't say for sure, I'm still hoping for a completed product by late summer (Aug/Sept). Thanks again to everyone for your help in getting this far. We couldn't have done it without you! |
